Update!
Feel I am due for a babbling entry that tries to describe some of my life in Chile. I really can't think of a better way to do it.
So, there are lots of spiders in this country, it’s cold and no one has a heater, Chileans are crazy about lunch, I am still addicted to coffee, I finally bought a new camera, we are building a swing set for the club and fixing a few things on a repair day in May, I went to an event the other day for a girl at club and when I arrived she was crying because her mom never showed up, everyday something that I eat involves bread, oil, salt and/or lemon, there are too many street dogs in this country, I miss being able to go to cafes less than 5 minutes from where I live to read, I feel you could buy empanadas and sopaipillas on every corner of Santiago, it's cold, some kids at club don’t have enough money for shampoo, I think the sheets I sleep on are 20 years old, I like when I can see the mountains because that means there is less smog that day, and within 2 weeks I think there were 6 VE volunteers that had to go to the hospital or urgent care.
Also, I teach English class at club, I want to go back to Brazil, the staff and kids at club make me laugh, I pay rent now but don't have to clean all the time like before, it's cold, sometimes a mom and her two girls sleep at club with us because of health and family problems, the mom snores, cat calls are still frequent, public transportation is not my friend because “transantiago” changed it all and now there are less buses, I baked cookies with a 12 year old from club at 11:30pm and she thought it was completely crazy we made cookies so late, the kids at club always fight over the two swings we have, I have new roommate from the states and the other three are gone, it's cold and I need to go get ready to go out dancing...
So what now? I am going to Cordoba, Argentina to visit a friend end of May, I leave Chile on June 14th and then have two weeks in Mexico. After this: will live at home and get a job just to save money and once I have enough will move out – to get a job in the states or in another country teaching… we will see. Got connections? Let me know!
Hope you all are well and take care!
