New Years and Vacation with the kids
1) I added more pictures!!!
2) Latest news: Going to Brazil in February for 10 days to visit a friend!!!! Yeah for first vacation more than 3 days.
3) New Years: The Beach. A bunch of use rented cabañas and went to El Quiso, about 2 hours away from Santiago. We spend the days relaxing and walking on the beach which was cloudy until the last day. We spend New Years Eve cooking out and then walking down to the beach to see fireworks. After the fireworks my friends boyfriend proposed to her, she said yes (obvio), and then we went to the cabañas to dance some more. Can not complain about my New Years at all.
4) Vacation with the kids: From now until March the kids don´t come to the club, but I did just spend the last 168 hours strait with them - that would be one week. We went to Los Andes about 2 hours north of here in the country. We stayed at a boarding school, went swimming the the pool everyday, swam in a few rivers, hiked a lot, played a ton of games, and just hung out. Over all it went really smoothly. Other than me jumping into the pool with my clothes on to save a 6 year old, a volunteer falling and twisting her ankel really bad which resulted in a hospital trip and us leaving one of our staff members in Los Andes at the end it was pretty uneventful. I played with the kids, made sure they got ready in the morning which was an event for the 4 EXTREMELY slow girls, slept next to a 6 year old who is used to sleeping with her mom, went hiking through the hills (yeah, really is desert), shower time with the girls included white butts and sunburnt shoulders, and I taught a bunch of kids how to swim which we awesome!! My personal favorite story is the day the boys were in the shower and I saw water coming out from under the door and I heard a lot of commotion. For some reason there wasn´t a tío with them so I peaked through the crack that was already there (they were in bathing suits) and saw two shower heads pointing up so it would rain on the shower floor. Next I see a boy sliding on the all water and soap that was everywhere -the boys had made a slip and slide in the shower room. I of course had to tell them to stop but I was also thinking about how much fun that must have been.
Ok, that´s it for now. I have lots of Domingo Savio projects over the summer and some VE work too. Hope all is well, take care.
ps. I´m almost TAN.
